[I don't consider this to BE an entry - it's just a silly session on the computer, as far as I am concerned, because that P challenge looked like fun.] Pendrell's Precarious Position by Janet Eaton Pendrell padded quietly past Pepper's pretty pallet. Pepper was the pet (a pretty Pomeranian) of Pendrell's friend, Paco. After Paco's precipitous parting the previous evening, following a phone call, Pendrell was a bit concerned. Was it possible that Paco had a psychosomatic illness of some kind? Perhaps pshychotherapy would help? Pendrell pondered these possibilities as he prepared to put his eggs in the pot and poach them. Paco was a long-time pal of agent Pendrell. His peculiar pace as he left the previous night brought to mind the possibility of a bit of pettifogging - or worse! Paula, Paco's Parisian girlfriend, was to have arrived on a plane promptly at 8:00 pm the night before. Perhaps the plane was late. Perhaps it was held up by precipitation in Paris. Perhaps a bit of philandering was going on. The possibilities were potentially endless...... Pendrell was concerned about Paula, but his primary consideration was the safety and psychological health of his pal, Paco. When Paco's physical safety and health were determined to be well, maybe some pharmaceutical help would improve Paco's psychological outlook. (Aside: Tim is passionately popping off about some Biblical philosophies in my presence.) Pendrell's position as Paco's best pal meant that he must prepare to pursue the truth of the situation. Pendrell preened himself to perfection before parting, donning a purple lab coat which he had purchased at a premium price. Perhaps lab work would be required? Pendrell parted from his 'partment, preparing to press his FBI agent pals, Dana Scully and Fox Mulder into action on his friend's behalf. This was probably a good chance to get some exercise, he thought, as he pedaled his bicycle furiously toward their "pads". The pretty Scully greeted him with a "peck" on the cheek. On arrival at Mulder's place, Mulder's prediction that the case would be quickly settled gave Pendrell hope that his preferred ending to the mystery was a possibility and that no premeditation was involved. How to prepare for the search? At present, that was the problem being considered. What evidence was presented, thus far? Parisian Paula hadn't put in an appearance, as sceduled. A phone call from an unidentified person preceded the predicament and predisposed Pendrell to fear the worst. Paco's precipitous parting the prevous night with no explanation pounded not-so-pleasant thoughts into the minds of all three FBI agents. The possibility of having to do a postmortem examination on Pendrell's friend, Paco, or on Paco's Parisian pal, Paula, was not something they wanted to consider, but this possibility popped into their minds repeatedly. They prepared to begin their search for clues bye checking the phone records. This revealed the the phone call on the previous evening had come from the airport. The three pals set off, hoping to find a preponderance of evidence there, if not Paco and Paula, themselves. They prayed that they were not predestined to disappointment and failure in their search for Pendrell's precious pals, but unfortunately, these things are not predictable. On arrival at the airport, Pendrell and Scully exited the car and passed through the doors, into the building, while Mulder preferred to remain with the car until he had properly placed it in the parking lot and payed the parking fee. After doing this, he prepared himself to face whatever evidence Scully and Pendrell had found, then he entered the building, as well. Mulder slowly passed through the airport, carefully peering into all corners and all private areas, hoping for some sign of his pals. His wish for a close proximity to his pals seemed to be predisposed to disappointment, until he prepared to enter the man's restroom. As he pounded on the door, not wishing to invade the privacy of a stranger, he heard passionate sobbing from the interior. Mulder pushed and pounded on the door, but it wouldn't open. The sobbing inside grew louder and Mulder thought it prudent to prepare himself for whatever unpleasantness would greet him as he pounded and pushed. >From inside, the sobbing person began to notice that the door was protruding. He prepared to provide a passage-way for the person pounding on the opposite side. When he opened the door, Mulder, already in a headlong rush at the previously locked door, could not prepare himself for the new situation in time and he plummeted into the restroom, passing through the door and crashing into the sink on the far side. This resulted in a protuberance on his head that nearly matched the protuberance he had caused on the door with his pounding and pushing. Mulder passed out. On awakening, Mulder picked up a piece of paper with a printed note that read, "This is why I was sobbing. Can you help? Paco" On the floor under the note, Mulder saw some pieces of pink yarn that were beginning to unravel. He picked up the pink material and pondered on it's possible meaning. He could think of none. Paco obviously believed this was evidence of a potential problem. Just at this time, Pendrell and Scully came rushing up. Pendrell took the note and the pink yarn. As his read the printing on the page, Pendrell became very agitated and the healthy pink blush on his face became a deeper pink, indicating that the printing had provoked passionate worry for him. The pals prepared to prowl through the airport, pursuing the truth of the situation. Their purpose was NOT to fail, but to prevent further problems. They were NOT going to pussyfoot around. This puzzle HAD to be solved! Scully placed the printed note and the bits of pink yarn in a plastic bag, which she then placed in her purse. This evidence must be properly protected. As the pals passed through the the airport, looking out the panes of glass placed in the windows to protect the people from precipitation and the other elements, they carefully peeked at the passengers who were placing their lives and safety in the hands of the plane pilots. They hoped they would NOT see Pendrell's pal, Paco, preparing to pass through the plane's doors. Thoughts of the pleasant (or unpleasant) possibilities the other passengers were facing on their trips did not occur to them. Placing their trust in each other, they continued to pass through the airport, peeking in all corners and searching all places. Plainly, it seemed, Paco and Paula were not present. A pained expressed passed over Pendrell's face, but he continued to search for his friends, as his pals, Scully and Mulder, helped. They were all becoming more and more passionate in their search as they silently sent out their pleas for the safetly of Pendrell's pals. The three agents paused to ponder the situation and consider the evidence. The pink yarn obviously held meaning for Paco, but WHAT? He had been very passionate about it. What was the purpose of the printing on the note? The pals began to pitch their thoughts around, each of them piping up in their turn. It didn't make sense. A sound of soft, pleasant laughter filtered through to them. Where had it come from? Peeking around some bushes into a corner, the pals saw Paco with a pretty young female person. Could THAT person be Paula? Probably not, but they were prepared to find out. Poking their noses around and peering closely at Paco and the other person in his presence, they peered closely at the activities. Paco was pointing at something pink as a soft feminine voice quietly quietly said, "knit one, purl two...." Placing themselves before the pair, Scully, Mulder, and Pendrell prepared to discover the truth of the present situation. Paco introduced them to Paula, his girlfriend, and explained, as he happily poked the pink material, that Paula's plane had been held up the previous night by precipitation. He had panicked when he received a call from the airport, telling him that the plane was late. On passing into the airport, he had not been able to find Paula, so had paced and worried passionately, preparing himself to endure news of a possible premeditated crime against his Paula and HOPING that there would be no need for a postmortem. He had continued in this way until his pretty lady had poked him with one of the branches of the plant behind which Mulder, Scully, and Pendrell had previously been standing while they peeking at Paula and Paco. Since her money was in her luggage and her luggage had been sent to the wrong airport, Paula was not prepared to pay for a taxi, so chose to plant herself in a private corner in the airport and play around with her knitting, while waiting for morning to arrive. She was not prepared to inconvenience the passionate Paco by phoning him during the night and waking him. Paco had not found her at the airport until after his passionate episode in the restroom, when Mulder had pounded on the door, seeking passage. Paco was concerned because he had picked up the pink bits of yarn from a seat in the waiting area, and, knowing that Paula was preparing a pink blanket with cute purple piggies on it for Paco's newborn niece, he had feared the worst. "Pshaw", said Paula, "you worry too much!" The happy and greatly relieved group of pals prepared to depart the airport, as planes passed overhead.
